Nako Okubo spent much of her early education hand drawing "typefaces" instead of listening to her teachers. Not surprisingly, she now gets paid to make things look good for a huge spectrum of clients from fortune 500 companies to neighborhood nonprofits. The one-time go-go dancer feels inspired by powerlines, fluorescents, registration marks and—you might have guessed—kids' handwriting. Her personal work can be seen in random locations/situations in and around Chicago.
